The Inanimate Faces of Camden Town
On the road trip last week I surprisingly encountered a massive solar panel array just outside of Mosca, CO. I quickly took some pictures and shot some cell phone video. In hindsight neither of their portraits the massive scope of the farm very well, so I used the Image Composite Editor from Microsoft Research to see if it could stitch the photos together. The originals were not a panorama at all but ICE did a great job in combining them. It is worth while looking at full size.

On Sept. 10, 2009, Nasa performed the initial full scale, full-duration test firing of the first motor for the Ares I rocket. ATK Space Systems conducted the successful stationary firing of the five-segment solid development motor 1, or DM-1. The Ares I is a crew launch vehicle in development for NASA's Constellation Program.
Make sure to hit that HQ button to watch a 22 Million Horse Power engine being test fired! If you want to fast-forward, T-10 is at 1:40.

After deleting all 2000 Direct Messages at my twitter account the inbox and sent box are really empty, but their counter is still stuck at 504... I really had hoped that this was an "eventual consistent" issue, but given that it has been like this for a week, I guess I'll have to live with the 504 being 0 :-)

Some time ago I purchased a "performance boost" from Comcast, but I found strange that I never saw any real performance improvement beyond 6-8 Mbs. Until a Eureka moment today that left me rather embarrassed: The "Internet" port on my firewall/router was only a 10 Mbs. Replacing it with a slightly more modern router with a 100Mbs / 1Gbs Internet port did the trick.
It now happily blasts past 35 Mbs, making downloading HD content from Amazon Video really fast. Below is the before and after evidence of the crime.
For punishment for this stupidity I'll put Madness on repeat for the rest of the evening.

Some of the absolute best fiction books I have read in the past year were the first two books of the Millenium series by Swedish writer Pier Larsson. His main character, Lisbeth Salander, is absolutely fascinating and the books have a multi layered complexity that makes for a very interesting read. The first two books are 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and "The Girl Who Played with Fire". The third one, "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest" still has to appear in English. Larsson died in 2004.
I didn't know the books were going to made into movies as I thought the complexity of the written story would be hard to translate into a 2 hour visual story line. Nalden blogged this morning about the trailer for the movie and I heard from people who attended Nalden's "Amongst Friends" screening of the movie that it is excellent. I can't wait for it to make it to the US. The first of the movies has as title "Män Som Hater Kvinnor" (men who hate women) and is the story of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
There are three versions of the movie trailer, with the final one reveal most details.
First teaser trailer (I could only find the spanish version):
Second trailer:
Final Trailer:
This is the trailer for "Flickan Som Lekte Med Elden" which is not released until the fall
